Council updates burning bylaw

By Chad Ingram

The township has updated its burning bylaw which was last updated in 2004. In Minden Hills the fire season is considered the first day of April through the last day of October. Daytime burning during these months is prohibited unless a special $50 permit is approved by the fire chief. Burning is to be limited to charcoal and dry clean wood or brush. Open-air fires are to be limited to a metre in diameter and located at least 7.5 metres from buildings trees wires etc. Fines are in place for violations of the bylaw.
