The Easter bunny made a special trip to the Pavilion in Dorset this past Easter weekend hiding hundreds of brightly coloured eggs for the children of Dorset to collect on Saturday afternoon.
Karla MacKay and Ruth Ross organized the event which was put on by the Dorset Health Hub Committee and sponsored locally.
“We had 33 kids in spite of the rain and after collecting the eggs each child took home a bag of goodies and sunflower seeds to plant” said Karla.
She adds “there was hot chocolate with marshmallows to keep away the chill. We hope to do it again next year.” Attached to each goody bag was a note about upcoming events at the Hub.
The question has been raised as to whether or not the bridge rehabilitation in Dorset is going to affect the annual Ironman 70.3 triathlon and the answer is no.
The cycling portion of the event veers off onto Main Street and continues the entire length of the road then turns on to Hwy 117. The bridge is due to be completed the week of June 30 and Ironman 70.3 Muskoka is Sunday July 9.
Now that spring is here everyone is excited to get to their cottages and get ready for the summer months. Cottagers on seasonal roads have a more difficult time doing this because their roads sometimes aren’t accessible until the beginning of May.
If you want to know if you can get to your cottage without driving all the way up here you can search Road Closures and Delays on algonquinhighlands.ca or visit the Dorset Canada Facebook page.
