H.A.V.E. golf tournament drives in $16,000 for clean water

The second annual Ron Reid H.A.V.E. Charity Golf Tournament took place on Aug.11 at the Gull River Golf Club in Minden. The tournament was a tremendous success raising more than $16,000. Sixty golfers participated in a sunny morning of best ball golf with fun contests on different holes. The golf team of Tracey Chandler, Carlee Northover, Wes Lytle and Jeff Bennet took home the trophy for this year’s event. H.A.V.E. stands for Help A Village Effort. It is a Minden-based charity that has been working with rural villages in India for four decades, turning donations from Canada into “clean water wells and sanitation units” through partnerships with trusted non-governmental organizations. H.A.V.E. also has branches in Newfoundland and British Columbia.
This year’s tournament sponsor was Kegel Heating and Cooling. This Carnarvon business will have a plaque placed on a newly drilled well in India that their sponsorship will pay for in full. The well site will have an inscription and their name on it.
