County council cost about $135K for 2019

Haliburton County council cost approximately $133500 to operate for 2019.
The 2019 statements of remuneration and expenses for county council were received by councillors during a Jan. 22 meeting. County councillors receive per diem payments for each of the council and committee meetings they attend and can also expense items such as meals and hotel accommodations while they are conducting business on behalf of the county. County council is comprised of the mayors and deputy mayors from each of Haliburton County’s four lower-tier councils.

Algonquin Highlands Deputy Mayor Liz Danielsen served as county warden for the year and collected just more than $19530 in council meetings per diems $5475 in committee meeting per diems $1805 in mileage and charged about $5250 in meals accommodations and conference expenses for a total of just more than $32000.

Dysart et al Deputy Mayor Pat Kennedy had council meeting per diems of $8340; committee per diems of $3955; mileage payments of just more than $1200 and meal accommodation and conference expenses of approximately $1750 for a total of just more than $15255.
Highlands East Mayor Dave Burton who served as deputy warden for 2019 had council meeting per diems of just more than $9700; committee per diems of $3285; mileage of $1467 and meal accommodation and conference expenses of $230 for total of approximately $14750.

Dysart et al Mayor Andrea Roberts received $8340 in council per diems $3995 in committee per diems just over $1000 in mileage payments and had other expenses totalling about $1300 for a total of just more than $14600.

Highlands East Deputy Mayor Cec Ryall collected $8340 in council per diems; $3315 in committee per diems; just more than $1000 in mileage payments and charged about $1800 in other expenses for a total of just less than $14500. Minden Hills Deputy Mayor Lisa Schell was paid $8340 in council per diems; $4305 in committee per diems; $414 in mileage payments and had about $1400 in other expenses for a total of just more than $14400.

Algonquin Highlands Mayor Carol Moffatt received $8340 in council per diems; $3210 in committee per diems $850 in mileage and had other expenses of just less than $2000 for a total of just more than $14360. Minden Hills Mayor Brent Devolin was paid $8340 in council per diems; $3475 in committee per diems; had mileage payments of just less than $300 and additional expenses of just more than $1400 for a total of just more than $13500.
Members of county council are also remunerated at their respective lower-tier levels.
