Things could get tasty in AlgonquinHighlands this summer as it seems a food truck is ready to rollinto the Stanhope Airport.
“Talks are ongoing and looking verypromising” airport manager Cam Loucks told Algonquin Highlandscouncillors at an April 7 meeting.
While there is a cook shacklocated at the facility it would require significant work that couldbe costly to bring the building's propane griddle up to a workingstandard.
The township has been looking at otheroptions for the provision of food at the airport.
While Loucks did not reveal theidentity of the food truck operator he told councillors the operatoris experienced and offers a quality menu with variety.
If the arrangement proceeds Louckssaid a food truck would be located at the airport Thursdays throughMondays this summer beginning the week before the May long weekend.
“I think it's important for us to geta gauge this is a really bad phrase on whether food is going to flythere” said Reeve Carol Moffatt. “If there's a demand then thathelps us decide what to do there.”
The airport located close Highway 118is frequented by pilots and their families and with staff moving intothe new MNRF base at the airport this week some 60 provincialemployees will be located close by.
