Following days of rain many roads in Minden Hills and the surrounding area have been closed.


On Saturday May 6 the Township of Minden Hills announced a state of emergency. On Sunday the bridge in the town of Minden was closed due to high water levels on the Gull River.



Volunteers have been working hard alongside municipal staff to help with sandbags.




As of 6 p.m. on Sunday May 7 the following roads were closed according to Minden Hills: Prince Street St. Germaine Street Milburn Road Soyers Lake Road Invergordon Street Orde Street McKnight Street Anson Street and Spring Valley Road.


The entrances to Water and Booth streets are both closed to all but local traffic.


The municipality is warning people who are not residents of these roads to avoid using them.
