Following days of rain many roads in Minden Hills and the surrounding area have been closed.
On Saturday May 6 the Township of Minden Hills announced a state of emergency. On Sunday the bridge in the town of Minden was closed due to high water levels on the Gull River.
Volunteers have been working hard alongside municipal staff to help with sandbags.
As of 6 p.m. on Sunday May 7 the following roads were closed according to Minden Hills: Prince Street St. Germaine Street Milburn Road Soyers Lake Road Invergordon Street Orde Street McKnight Street Anson Street and Spring Valley Road.
The entrances to Water and Booth streets are both closed to all but local traffic.
The municipality is warning people who are not residents of these roads to avoid using them.

The Minden Community Food Centre is setting up a relief centre at the S.G. Nesbitt Arena for volunteers town staff and anyone adversely affected by the flood. There will be sandwiches coffee and cookies from noon and a hot meal in the evenings starting Monday May 8. They are looking for donations of toiletries (deodorant hand soap sanitary products cleaning products toothpaste and brushes) as well as bedding and towels. You can drop donations off at the Minden Food Centre at 24 Newcastle Street in Minden from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
