Algonquin Highlands staff were senthome on Friday Dec. 13 after the township received a threat onsocial media.
“Earlier today staff were made aware of social media posts thatcontained language of enough concern to contact police” MayorCarol Moffatt said in a statement. “In consultation with the OPPthe municipal office library public works garage and communitycentre on North Shore Road have been closed for the remainder of theday and staff have been sent home.”
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes to thepublic; the safety and well-being of staff is our primary concern”Moffatt said. “The OPP are monitoring the situation. As theofficial spokesperson for the municipality I will provide anynecessary updates. There is no threat to public safety.”
