LifeLabs in Haliburton is officially re-opened.
As of Sept. 21, Haliburton Patient Service Centre (PSC) at Gelert Road is re-opening their doors for the first time since March. “This reopening marks an important milestone for the Haliburton community,” said the LifeLabs media team, “restoring convenient access to laboratory testing services for residents and those in surrounding areas. We recognize the importance of these services and appreciate the patience and understanding shown by patients, healthcare providers, and community partners throughout the disruption.”
The clinics were closed at the Gelert Road location in the spring, citing issues around an unwelcome odour that had seeped through the walls. The building, under the ownership of the Municipality of Dysart et al, underwent a series of alterations to make the space accessible again. During the closure, the other businesses in the building continued operation.
“As always, the health and safety of our patients and employees remains our highest priority, “said LifeLabs media. “The Haliburton PSC remained closed while an investigation was undertaken by the municipality to identify and address the source of the odour concerns. In August, the investigation identified an issue that was subsequently addressed by the municipality. Following completion of air quality testing at the beginning of September, it was determined that the space was suitable for re-occupancy.”
The LifeLabs media release noted that there was no indication of hazardous gases within the facility. Air monitoring included hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide, oxygen, and combustible gas levels, including propane.
“We appreciate the support and collaboration of local healthcare providers and community partners while the issue was investigated and resolved,” said LifeLabs. “We look forward to welcoming patients back to the Haliburton PSC and continuing to provide high-quality laboratory services close to home. LifeLabs remains committed to ensuring a safe, reliable, and positive experience for all patients accessing our services.”
The 7217 Gelert Road location will be open Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
