Council supports CEWF idea to create water organization

By Chad Ingram

Minden Hills council is supportive of an effort by the Coalition for Equitable Water Flow to create an organization to represent the water management concerns of those on the feeder and reservoir lakes of the Trent Severn Waterway that are located in Haliburton County.

“We believe that water management is too important to leave to federal agencies alone” member Bruce McClennan told councillors.

“It’s becoming increasingly clear to me that in Haliburton County we need to speak with one singular voice” Reeve Brent Devolin said of water management issues.

Water levels on lakes that are part of the TSW feeder system can vary greatly throughout the year.
