County residents charged in drug bust

Five Haliburton County residents have been charged with drug-related offences following a police raid at a residence along Bobcaygeon Road in Minden.

According to a press release from the OPP, members of the Haliburton Highlands detachment and City of Kawartha Lakes Street Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the house on Nov. 12, and five county residents, along with two residents of the GTA, were charged with a variety of offences including drug possession for the purposes of trafficking and possession of items obtained by crime.

According to the release, a 36-year-old Minden woman, a 31-year-old Minden man, a 30-year-old Minden man, a 27-year-old woman from Algonquin Highlands, and 35-year-old Haliburton man were each charged with one count of possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking, and one count of possession of Fentanyl for the purposes of trafficking.

In addition, a 30-year-old man from Ajax and a 26-year-old man from Toronto were each charged with the same offences, as well as the possession of items obtained by crime, and in the case of the Ajax man, failure to comply with an undertaking.

According to the police, one individual was held on bail, while the others were released on undertakings and are scheduled to appear in court in Minden on Feb. 3.
