A new ice cream parlour in Norland is ready to serve up deliciousness just in time for summer.
What’s the Scoop? Ice Cream and Desserts opened on the weekend of May 24 in the former home of Café Dieme along Highway 35 at the village’s main intersection.

“I bought the building a year ago and sort of slowly chipped away at the renovations” says owner Jay Rose who pointed out he was going for an old-fashioned kind of aesthetic.
There’s black-and-white tile flooring and an old cookstove acts as a coffee bar.
Oh and there are 24 flavours of ice cream along with a variety of home-baked goods. Most of the baking is courtesy of Rose’s mother.
“She’s showing me [how to bake]” he says. “It’s mostly her right now.”

The shop is open Fridays through Mondays and Rose has plans to extend the hours once the summertime arrives.
“Come give us a try” he says.
Rose may also transform another area of the building into a fish and chip shop.
