Minden Hills announced this week that Nelson Johnson is the new chief of its volunteer fire department starting in the role Jan. 13.
“Nelson brings with him over 25 years of progressive experience inthe fire service industry both in the field and in various seniorleadership roles including training officer deputy chief and firechief” reads a release from the township. “Nelson has worked forvarious organizations including Firemaster Oilfield Services the Townof Bonnyville Alberta and the City of Iqaluit Nunavut.”
“In his role as fire chief for Minden Hills Nelson will beresponsible for fire and emergency services and will provide proactiveleadership in policy development and implementation fire prevention and suppression financial administration staff recruitment and trainingand other administrative requirements relative to fire services andemergency management operations.”
Johnson replaces Mike Bekking who’s been in the chief’s chair sinceformer fire chief Doug Schell resigned from the position in the fall of2017.
