Places for People hosted an open house for their most recent completed project on McPherson street steps from the Minden hospital on April 12.

With the help of volunteers Places for People a non-profit corporation that serves Haliburton County updated the house by removing carpets for new flooring repainted the walls and ceilings added trim and energy lights and updated the basement.

Appliances such as the stovetop oven fridge and dryer were donated as was the paint. Haliburton Highlands Health Services is leasing to Places for People which in turn provides access to secure affordable rental housing.

The residents moved into the three bedroom 1200 square foot home which includes a 12-by-15-foot sunroom three days later.

See www.placesforpeople.ca for information on their other projects.
