There’s a planned power outage scheduled for Minden and surrounding area for the morning of Sunday, May 16, as Hydro One crews perform work at the utility’s transmission station along County Road 21.

The outage is scheduled to take place from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. It will affect more than 6,200 customers in areas including Minden, Kinmount, Irondale, Moore Falls, Miners Bay, Deep Bay Road, Gelert, Lochlin, Ingoldsby and most of the former Lutterworth township. The outage map shows the affected area includes Mountain Lake and part of Twelve Mile Lake.

Residents are encouraged to make sure cellphones and other devices are fully charged, ensure appliances are turned off and set aside water for drinking and cooking the night before.

Crews are installing a foundation for a second new transformer at the transmission station, which experienced a major fire in the summer of 2018.
