Schmale deputy shadow minister for Opposition

Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock MPJamie Schmale has been named Deputy Shadow Minister for NaturalResources by new Conservative party leader Andrew Scheer.

Scheer announced his shadow cabinet –a group of MPs assigned specific portfolios to act as criticsagainst the government cabinet – last week and Schmale's officeannounced his deputy position earlier this week.

“I'm grateful to be given the chanceto advocate on such an important file for this country’’ Schmalesaid in a release. ”I will use this opportunity to be a principledvoice for Canadians who value safe and environmentally sustainableresource development.”

Shannon Stubbs MP for Alberta'sLakeland constituency has been named shadow minister for the file.

Schmale's new duties require that hesit on the House of Commons' standing committee for naturalresources which means he'll no longer sit on the standing committeeof procedures and house affairs.

Schmale was elected in the 2015election and was long-time executive assistant to his predecessorBarry Devolin.
