Tickets on sale for concert series

The 39th season for the Haliburton Concert Series is going to be filled with amazing musicians and wonderful music.

The season begins on Saturday May 6 with Guy and Nadina . Guy Few (trumpet and piano) and Nadina Mackie Jackson (bassoon) have delighted audiences coast-to-coast with their “polished tone immaculate intonation and infectious high spirits; it’s obvious they’re having a blast.” (allmusic.com). Guy will have been in the county two weeks before the concert to adjudicate the Haliburton Highlands Music Festival so it will be fun to see him on the stage instead of behind the adjudicator’s desk.

The concert on Saturday Sept. 9 The Poet & The Singer will be an intimate evening of lush singing with piano accompaniment seamlessly combined with evocative witty poetry creating a magical whole. Jeff Pinkney (poet) Leslie Fagan (soprano) and Lorin Shalanko (piano) will delight us with wonderful poems and songs by Richard Strauss Peter Tiefenbach Henry Purcell and others. Jeff and Leslie are cottagers in the county and this will be a great opportunity to hear them perform.

The final concert of the season is on Saturday Oct. 28 and we are delighted to welcome Ensemble Vivant a piano quintet. They will present  An Evening in Paris: an imaginative program capturing the essence of Parisian musical life and featuring music by Widor Franck Debussy Piazolla and others.
